Destin
When my parents informed me we were all leaving to be spending New Year's Eve down in Destin, Florida, I was very thrilled. I was going to flee the snow and cold of a Midwestern winter for palm trees and multicolored drinks with little umbrellas on the beach. I filled my bags, filling them with dazzling shirts, swim trunks, and sunscreen. I threw in additional sweatshirt, a pair of pants, and a stocking hat as a late addition, burying them at the base of my bag beneath my sun hat. I was all set for a excellent time at Destin.
We flew into Ft. Walton and rented a automobile, and when we got to Destin it was beautiful. Sugar sandy beaches extended in a elegant curve out to the horizon, and they were almost empty. This isn't to state there weren't any people around at Destin, there were, but not any of them were on the seashore. That's since it was forty-five degrees outside, and the few people who were on the seashore were wearing windbreakers or something heavier. When the wind began blowing it felt like we were on the moon, or, even worse, the white sand began to look like snow.
My parents and their friends had rented out a private summer home, and when we got there we noticed that the house had a little swimming pool in the back yard. We cranked up the temperature on the swimming pool and by the following morning it was invitingly steamy. The weather at Destin was awful all week; it even rained for a few days, but the Destin trip was still pleasurable.
Destin is really a gorgeous place, and even when it was chilly outside walking beside the seashore was beautiful. We fished, both off of boats and in the surf, and treated ourselves to superb seafood dinners. A restaurant not far from Destin at Pensacola, The Fish House, served me what may be the best meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant, pecan-fried grouper along with a string of superb trimmings. My best pal and I raced go-kart's on a three story track, and a fine time was had by all. Even when we departed Destin the weather didn't get better; Atlanta was hit by its first blizzard in years. Though our air travel was only late by an hour or so some travelers were stranded at the airport for days, and we felt sad for them as our airplane lifted off, headed for snowed in Minnesota.
Why not make Destin your next holiday destination?
